Carsten Reinemann (born 1971) studied Communication • Political Science • and Psychology at Mainz University. Following a brief stay at Leipzig University • he earned his doctorate in Mainz 2003 and completed his habilitation in 2007. In 2008 • he was appointed to the newly established W3 Chair for Communication Science with a specialization in Political Communication at LMU Munich.
He served as Director of the Department of Media and Communication from 2010 to 2012 and again from 2018 to 2022. Since October 2025 • he has held the position of Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at LMU Munich.
His research and teaching interests include political media content and discourse • public opinion and media effects • populism and extremism • as well as media trust and freedom of speech.
